Review
The sound quality of the Xenyx 802 is very transparent so it doesn't add any color to the recordings, plus to hear any background noise the gain has to be up high which means you get great snr. This mixer will give you a clean even frequency response due to the solid state electronics but it doesn't have the cold, brittle digital sound of direct digital recording.
Ok, the sound you get is great when you consider the price of this mixer but on a down side the onboard EQ is useful but only if you don't have a dedicated EQ unit that you can use. An if you are recording with computer recording software like Cubase then you can get better results with software EQs and effects.
The build quality is to a high standard with all the knobs moving without sticking plus theu are very solid. Even though you will propable be using this for a home recording mixer it is sturdy enough to be take on the road.
There is one thing about the metering display that I should mention. When the LEDs light up the signal is exceeding 0.0 db. This might not be a problem for you but I perfer a little worning so I like yellow lights up to 0.0 db and then red if you exceed the limit.
With the minor issues out of the way overall the Behringer Xenyx 802 is a wonderful little piece of equipment and the sound quality you get for the price outweigh the minnor negitives it has. The Behringer Xenyx 802 Review highly recommends this mixer for the sound quality, bulid quality and the pricr you pay for the great mixer.
