The Rode NTK Review of the twin triode tube large capsule condenser microphone. Rode has set the standard with this microphone.
For around $500 you really can't go wrong with this microphone, it has the warmth and quality that is demanded from a tube mic.
The NTK is a fantastic mic to work with and is engineered to a very high standard. For the sound, you only have to sing into it to know that it's going to be good.
It has a natural quality that is smooth, pure and very intimate, it's like there is a subtle enhancement going on within it. This mic help with articulation, but there is a very slight tendency to sibilance.
The Rode NTK has a warmth like more expensive mics which help create a vocal which will fit into the mix like a glove.
Features:
The Rode NTK is an amazing microphone, record anything from instruments to vocals this microphone is one of the best.
It gives just the right amount of warmth that I'd expect from much more expensive tube mic. The sound is just amazing, fat and very translucent. The Rode NTK sounds superb on vocals and acoustics!
This review found that the NTK actually outperformed the U87 in quite a few head to head tests and comes close to the U-47, but with more high end.
All in all this is a very warm so any track recorded with the NTK will become the crown in your mix.
It has a great sound and is super quiet for a Tube microphone.
This review gives this Rode NTK a 10 and says you will not be disappointed with the Rode NTK
